iOS 14.5 adds an option to unlock iPhone with Apple Watch if you’re wearing a mask

In iOS 14.5, there’s a new option to unlock an ‌iPhone‌ with Face ID and an Apple Watch paired together, with the Apple Watch’s authentication providing an extra layer of security.

If you’re wearing an unlocked Apple Watch and use Face ID as you normally would, the ‌iPhone‌ will unlock after a partial face scan. When the unlock happens, you’ll feel a haptic buzz and will receive a notification on the Apple Watch informing you that the unlocking procedure was successful, similar to how it works when unlocking a Mac with an Apple Watch.

Die Beta ist gestern erschienen. Der finale Release wird dann vermutlich auch im Februar erfolgen. 🎉

Heute im Rahmen des Display-Austausch­programms wegen teilweise nicht reagierender Touch-Eingaben kostenlos ein neues Display plus Front für mein iPhone X bekommen. Perfektes Timing nachdem es mir vor drei Wochen unglücklich hingefallen ist und vorne am Rand nen kleinen „Steinschlag“ abbekommen hat.

Scotty Allen, der im April bereits für Furore sorgte, als er mit in Shenzen eingekauften Bauteilen sein eigenes iPhone baute, hat sich für sein neuestes Video überlegt, sein iPhone 7 wieder mit dem von Apple zugunsten der AirPods wegrationalisierten Kopfhörereingang auszustatten. Das stellt sich als schwieriger heraus, als zunächst gedacht, ist aber auch wieder sehr sehenswert, wenn man auf DIY-Smartphone-Werkeln steht.

Der wahrscheinlich größte Leak in der Historie von Apple. Wenn das alles so kommt und preislich nicht total aus dem Ruder läuft, hätte ich gerne einmal das iPhone X, bitte.

Apple has a major „iPhone X“ redesign planned for 2017, with a glass body and edge-to-edge OLED display that does away with the Home button and perhaps replaces Touch ID with a new facial recognition system. The iPhone X will be sold alongside upgraded (but more traditional) 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus models.
