While I love Raycast’s ChatGPT integration on my Mac, I have to say that S-GPT, @viticci‘s Shortcut for ChatGPT is by far the best integration of OpenAI‘s LLM chatbot for iOS and iPadOS.

Tapbot’s Ivory
Great news for Mastodon’s app ecosystem: Tapbots, makers of the great alternative Twitter client Tweetbot, announced the development of “Ivory”, their Mastodon client for iOS and macOS (!).
Update, 24.01.2023: After Twitter’s ban of third-party clients and therefore the destruction of it‘s developers income, Tapbots discontinued Tweetbot a couple of days ago. Today they launched their successor Ivory in “early access” for 2 Euro/month or 18 Euro/year (which is a steal!). Here’s the website, here’s the App Store link.

Apple-Produktbezeichnungen
Apple macht vieles richtig, die Produktbezeichnungen gehören aber nicht dazu.
Nach dem „Air / mini / Max / Pro / SE / Magic / touch / Plus / +“-Nonsens kann man „Mac“ in Kombination nun auch schreiben, wie man will:
macOS, MacBook, iMac, Mac Pro, Mac Studio, Mac mini.
Und dann ist da natürlich die Versionierung:
- iPhones haben Versionsnummern (8, 11, 12, 13) oder Buchstaben (S, SE, X, XR, XS) und Postfixes (Plus, mini, Max, Pro).
- iPads haben z.T. Postfixes (Air, mini, Pro) oder technische Bezeichner (Pro M1).
- AirPods haben nichts, Postfixes (Pro, Max) und Generationen (3. Generation).
- Macs werden hingegen über Jahreszahlen und Displaygrößen identifiziert („15-inch, Mid-2015“, „14-inch, 2021“).
- Zubehör wird zu Magic Zubehör und ist erstmal nur optisch unterscheidbar.
Und dann gibt es natürlich noch für alles halböffentliche Identifikationsnummern, die natürlich nicht beworben werden, für die es aber eigene Seiten und dutzendfache „Identify your XY“-Knowledge-Base-Einträge gibt:
- Order Numbers: MA970B/A, MB467LL/A
- Model Numbers: A1278, M8493
- Model Identifiers: „MacBook5,1“, „AirPods1,3“ oder „iPhone14,5“, was z.B. ein iPhone 13 Pro Max ist.
- Serial Numbers: W88401231AX
Dieses Wiki versucht den Wahnsinn in Tabellenform zu bringen.
Das ist natürlich komplett egal und unterliegt scheinbar auch gewissen Regeln (z.B. „mini“ immer klein geschrieben), aber bei einer Firma wie Apple, die wie keine zweite für ihren Designanspruch und ihre Detailversessenheit bekannt ist, verwundert das Wirrwarr dann schon.

Alle Jahre wieder mein Long-Read für’s Wochenende. Ich warte arbeitsbedingt noch ein bisschen ab, bis die gröbsten Fehler ausgemerzt sind (looking at you, Docker), aber freue mich schon sehr auf Shortcuts für Mac, das ich ja unter iOS ständig und für alles nutze.
