Nach Michael Flarups iOS App Icon Book, in das es auch Yonks geschafft hat, hier nun die Kickstarter-Kampagne für das macOS-Pendant. Erneut direkt finanziert, erneut unter anderem von mir.

Purple app icon for Pocket Casts
A few months ago I switched to Pocket Casts for all my (cross-platform) podcast needs. I couldn’t be happier with the app, but there’s one thing: Podcasts have to be purple1 and so does my podcast client’s app icon. And while there’s a great variety of app icon designs within Pocket Casts already2, there’s no Apple-Podcasts-like, purple one.
Until now! Here’s my purple app icon for Pocket Casts.
Update, 18.09.2024: I’ve just released a dark purple version for iOS 18’s dark mode.
Bungie’s »Marathon« – Trailer
Ich habe mir gerade das PlayStation Showcase-Video gegeben und bin echt … underwhelmed. Als großer Helldivers-Fan, war der Trailer zur Fortsetzung natürlich ein Highlight, aber ansonsten Fehlanzeige. Wenn da nicht noch der Announcement Trailer zu Bungies nächstem Spiel »Marathon« gewesen wäre:
Denn der klingt und sieht großartig aus, was Sound und Art Direction angeht. Das Spiel, das eine Rückkehr zu Bungies 1994 Mac-exklusivem, gleichnamigem Spiel darstellt (hier ein Gameplay-Video), ist da erstmal zweitrangig. Und vermutlich eh noch ein, zwei Jahre von Release entfernt.
Bei Forbes (natürlich, wo auch sonst?) gibt’s eine gute Zusammenfassung der bisher bekannten Infos zum “PvP extraction shooter”.

Just got the brand new »The iOS App Icon Book« by Michael Flarup, a great overview/history of outstanding app icon design.
And then on page 119… is my work for Yonks. 😳🎉 I feel really honored to see my work next to all my favorite app icons of the past 15 years.

Habe den Black Friday dazu genutzt, meine AirPlay2-isierung zu vollenden und den letzten Nicht-AirPlay-Lautsprecher – eine 5 Jahre alte JBL Charge – durch einen Sonos Roam ausgetauscht. Wegen Betrieb im Bad sollte es nämlich wasserdicht sein, was viele Geräte disqualifizierte.
Ersteindruck ist auf jeden Fall schon mal gut: Nicht ganz so laut wie die Charge, dafür aber vor allem bei Sprache klarer. Setup lief im Gegensatz zu den Symfonisk-Lautsprechern problemlos. Das Onboarding in der Sonos-App ist vorbildlich (auch im Gegensatz zu Symfonisk):
