We’re not talking about changing Tumblr. We’re not turning Tumblr into WordPress.
This won’t be easy. Tumblr hosts over half a billion blogs. We’re talking about one of the largest technical migrations in internet history. Some people think it’s impossible. But we say, “challenge accepted.”
Nilay Patel on Threads: „And I thought our WordPress migration was complicated“, speaking of The Verge’s recent migration.
Since Automattic acquired Tumblr we’ve made it more efficient, grown its revenue, and worked to improve the platform. But there’s one part of the plan that we haven’t yet started, which is to run T…
⁂ is a typographical character, not an icon that needs to be inserted as an image. Unique-looking, but standardised. This means it’s very easy to copy-paste around! […]
⁂ is called an asterism. In astronomy, it refers to groups of stars in the sky, akin to constellations. We suggest that it’s a very fitting symbol for the fediverse, a galaxy of interconnected spaces which is decentralised and has an astronomically-themed name. It represents several stars coming together, connecting but each their own, without a centre.
Nice idea. I just followed @liaizon’s example and set the iOS/macOS text replacement feature to expand *** into ⁂.
We rendered over 1 million of the web’s top homepages. This is the result. […] It’s a collection of 1,048,576 homepage screenshots that you can zoom all the way into. It’s a weired and wonderful way to explore the web.
People and Blogs is a weekly newsletter series where interesting people talk about themselves and their blogs.
a genre of blogs in which the content means everything to the author but nothing to most everyone else; often abbreviated as „e/n“
everything/nothing: a genre of blogs in which the content means everything to the author but nothing to most everyone else; often abbreviated as "e/n"
We want to create a complete 1:1 scale replicate of every building on Earth in the computer game Minecraft, a virtual copy of our whole world that showcases the diversity of culture and living space on our planet and stands as a testament for what we can achieve when we work together as a global humanity.
Unlike the conventional “Save page as”,
monolithnot only saves the target document, it embeds CSS, image, and JavaScript assets all at once, producing a single HTML5 document that is a joy to store and share.
Certainly useful at times.
Somewhat related: Itty Bitty, websites whose content is completely contained in their URL.
