Tesla’s New Car Smell

Far from the promised 1,500 cars, Musk let us know that Tesla had shipped only 220 Model 3s in Q3.

Grund dafür sieht er u.a. darin, dass die Produktion bei Tesla noch zu viel manuelles Zutun braucht und die Best Practices der Autoindustrie nicht eingehalten werden. Das eröffnet wiederum Möglichkeiten für die klassischen Autokonzerne und ihre immer leistungsfähigeren E-Autos:

Elon Musk, Chef von SpaceX und Tesla Motors, hat heute im Blog von Tesla verkündet, dass sie die Nutzung ihrer Patente freigeben, um so schnelleren technologischen Fortschritt zu ermöglichen:

Tesla Motors was created to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport. If we clear a path to the creation of compelling electric vehicles, but then lay intellectual property landmines behind us to inhibit others, we are acting in a manner contrary to that goal. Tesla will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology.

Großer, guter Schritt und gute Vorgehensweise: Anstatt Patente abzuschaffen, nutzen wir sie einfach nicht mehr.
