Als jemand der sich zufälligerweise mit genau diesem Tech-Stack auskennt, kann ich bestätigen: so macht man das nicht.

Was eine großartige Idee von Abby Haddican, einer Designerin aus Minnesota: Eine aktivistische Font, die sich als andere Font ausgibt und bestimmte Worte ändert.

Times New Resistance autocorrects specific words as they are typed. For example, the word ICE autocorrects to the Goon Squad and the word Trump autocorrects to Donald Trump is a felon.

To the untrained eye, Times New Resistance looks just like Times New Roman – the official font of the U.S. State Department. When you install the font, it will appear in your font menus as Times New Roman, with an extra space between the words Times and New.

So wird z.B. „DOJ“ zu „clown town“, „Fox News“ zu „propaganda“ und „gay“, „trans“ oder „women“ zu „gay / trans / women rights are human rights“. Aus Bezos, Musk und Zuckerberg wird jeweils „Greedy Creep“.

Das Ganze funktioniert über Glyph Substitution: Eine Zeichenkette wird visuell durch eine andere Glyphenfolge ersetzt, ohne den eigentlichen Text zu verändern (klassischerweise kennt man das von Ligaturen wie „fi“). Copernicus data show that 2025 was the third warmest year on record1, only marginally (0.01°C) cooler than 2023, and 0.13°C cooler than 2024 – the warmest year on record. The past 11 years have been the 11 warmest on record. Global temperatures from the past three years (2023-2025) averaged more than 1.5°C above the pre-industrial level (1850–1900). This marks the first time a three-year period has exceeded the 1.5°C limit.

Zugegeben, es sieht so aus als hätten wir die zwei Jahre, die wir laut UN-Klimachef im April 2024 noch hatten, um den Planeten zu retten, nicht genutzt. Aber hey, dafür gibt’s diese tolle, wenn auch wenig überraschende Erkenntnis: Wissenschaft funktioniert. Wir haben das alles kommen sehen.
