In my online undergraduate P5.js course, students are about to begin the module on motion and physics, including a bit of physics simulation using Matter.js. It suddenly occurred to me that I had never seen anybody put together this particular demo before, and I realized it had to be done.

Die Apple-Geräte sind nach Prüfung vom BSI die ersten Endkundengeräte, die ohne spezielle, weitere Software oder Einstellungen für sicher genug befunden wurden, um bei der NATO zum Einsatz zu kommen. Für die NATO-Mitarbeitenden unter euch sicherlich eine gute Information, für den Rest von uns aber auch, weil dann sollte es sicherheitstechnisch auch bei uns keine Totalkatastrophe sein.

Laut der Studie von Kenneth Payne wurden in 20 der 21 Simulationen „taktische“ Nuklearwaffen eingesetzt. Einen kompletten Atomkrieg gab es immerhin nur in drei Fällen.
Claude Sonnet 4 entpuppte sich dabei als kalkulierender Falke, der 67% der Simulationen gewann. GPT-5.2 bekam den Spitznamen „Jekyll and Hyde“, denn während es zunächst verlor und keine nuklearen Optionen nutzte, änderte sich das unter Zeitdruck: 75% Siegesquote, aber hey, nuklearer Fallout, was soll’s? Gemini 3 Flash war der „Madman“ und handelte zuverlässig irrational und für die anderen Modelle unverständlich.
Der New Scientist (Paywall 🫠) zitiert Studienautor Payne mit diesem Quote für die Ewigkeit:

Times New Resistance autocorrects specific words as they are typed. For example, the word ICE autocorrects to the Goon Squad and the word Trump autocorrects to Donald Trump is a felon.
To the untrained eye, Times New Resistance looks just like Times New Roman – the official font of the U.S. State Department. When you install the font, it will appear in your font menus as Times New Roman, with an extra space between the words Times and New.
So wird z.B. „DOJ“ zu „clown town“, „Fox News“ zu „propaganda“ und „gay“, „trans“ oder „women“ zu „gay / trans / women rights are human rights“. Aus Bezos, Musk und Zuckerberg wird jeweils „Greedy Creep“.
Das Ganze funktioniert über Glyph Substitution: Eine Zeichenkette wird visuell durch eine andere Glyphenfolge ersetzt, ohne den eigentlichen Text zu verändern (klassischerweise kennt man das von Ligaturen wie „fi“).
