Toward the end of last year, we teased something we’d been working on for a long time. Now you can finally get your hands on it: a brand new Raycast, rebuilt from the ground up for the next era of personal computing. It’s in public beta as of today and you can try it out here.

Passend zum Beitrag von letzter Woche ist Raycast 2.0 nun als Public Beta erschienen. Die Migration funktio­niert reibungslos und bis auf ein paar Kinder­krank­heiten l\u00e4uft es bereits sehr rund, auch wenn noch ein paar Features fehlen (Cloud Sync, Focus und eine Suche in den Settings die ist jetzt da).

Zudem haben sie noch einen Technical Deep Dive Into the New Raycast ver­\u00f6ffent­licht, der erkl\u00e4rt, warum die Entwicklung so lange gedauert hat. Kurzum: die App wird nun crossplatform entwickelt und wurde daf\u00fcr komplett neu geschrieben:

To get there, we rewrote the app from the ground up. A new architecture and a stack that mixes TypeScript, Swift, C#, Rust, Node, and React. Web technologies have been part of Raycast from the start, powering extensions and Notes. In v2, we doubled down, while keeping the app feeling as native and fast as it always has.
