[\u2026]</p>\n<p>As the husband drove me down off the mountain back to the Ise-ji path, he said, \u201cShe\u2019s not \u2026 our daughter.\u201d</p>\n<p>What?</p>\n<p>Suddenly with more fluency: \u201cShe just appeared, seven years ago, was wandering the country, needed a job, somehow \u2026 found us. She is not a daughter but like a daughter. Time passes, and that\u2019s what happens.
