# How the Blog Broke the Web

> Dates didn’t matter all that much. Content lasted longer; there was less of it. Older content remained in view, too, because the dominant metaphor was table of contents rather than diary entry. \[…\] Obviously, it didn’t last.

> Suddenly people weren’t creating _homepages_ or even web _pages_, but they were writing web _content_ in form fields and text areas _inside a web page_.

> Suddenly, instead of _building_ their own system, they were working _inside_ one. A system someone else built.

1. Eingeschlafen im Blog-Kontext. Bei den großen Publikationen sind individuelle Artikel-Designs a.k.a. “Multimedia Features” nach Veröffentlichung von [“Snow Fall” durch die New York Times](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_Fall) seit Jahren der Heilige Gral. \[[↩](https://eay.cc/2021/how-the-blog-broke-the-web/#identifier_0_37610)\]
