Epic provoziert Apple mit der Implementierung einer nach den App Store-Regeln strikt verbotenen eigenen, g\u00fcnstigeren Payment-Option / Apple entfernt das \u00fcberaus popul\u00e4re Fortnite aus dem App Store / Epic verklagt Apple wegen Missbrauch ihrer Marktmacht.

Spannender Move von Epic Games, dem Betreiber des Epic Games Stores, Entwickler der Unreal-Engine und von Spielen wie eben Fortnite.

Ich vermute, dass es ihnen weniger um die 30% Apple Tax als vielmehr das offene \u00d6kosystem auf iOS-Ger\u00e4ten und zuk\u00fcnftigen Apple Silicon-Systemen geht. Denn wenn Apple weiterhin den Daumen drauf hat bzw. drauf legt, sind Third-Party-Stores wie der Store von Epic auch auf dem Mac und dann irgendwann auch bei Windows und Android Geschichte. Epic konkurriert dahingehend also mit Apple, dem App Store-Anbieter, und m\u00f6chte s\u00e4mtliche Plattformen noch auf Jahre f\u00fcr Third-Party- und den eigenen Store ge\u00f6ffnet wissen. Was tendenziell gut f\u00fcr uns alle sein sollte.

Und daf\u00fcr, dass sie 2020-Apple direkt mit 1984-IBM gleichsetzen, indem sie den ber\u00fchmten 1984-Werbespot als „Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite“ parodieren, gibt es gleich nochmal extra Bonuspunkte.

Update, 14.08.: Heute wurde Fortnite aus dem Google Play Store entfernt und Epic hat auch Google mit einer grandiosen Anklageschrift konfrontiert.
